We’re all being Gaslighted.

I’m visiting Leipzig. This is a place in the eastern part of Germany, the one-time DDR, still rebuilding and removing the scars of communism and the allied bombers before that. A city full of uniquely German art deco apartment blocks almost all now made spotless in typical German style, with the odd boarded up hulk to remind us how things were. No one wanted to emigrate to East Germany during the communist period, apart from a few nutters, so there are very few non-Germans here. All others are relatively recent arrivals.
